
SOUTHOLD, NY — Voters turned out Tuesday to cast their ballots in the 2025 to 2026 Southold Union Free School Free District's budget vote— passing the budget by a wide margin of 497 to 90.
Two Board of Education candidates, Kristian Prior and Jason Barkley ran to fill one open seat; Prior won with 314 votes, and Barkley received 251 votes.
The Southold Free Library budget also passed handily, 514 to 68.

The Southold Union Free School District's proposed $35,629,000 million budget reflects a 3.18 percent spending increase, with a 2.75 percent tax levy increase, within the district's tax levy cap.
