The five candidates engaged in a forum on March 6 held at Greenport High School, hosted by the Greenport Civic Association and the Greenport Business Improvement District, where they weighed in on issues including the village's infrastructure, affordable housing, and maintenance of village assets.

Days after that forum, Greenport Village Mayor Kevin Steussi posted a message on the Greenport Village website announcing that Trustee Phillips had resigned as deputy mayor, accusing her of "significant indebtedness" to the village in an amount over $100,000. Phillips later pointed out that she had resigned only as deputy mayor, not as a trustee or candidate in the election.
