Apply For Affordable Housing Opportunity In Elwood

See if you qualify. A lottery will be held in March.

Applications will soon be accepted for 20 affordable units at The Seasons at Elwood, an over-55 community under construction on Elwood Road.

  • Ten of the units will have two bedrooms and one and a half baths, and will be offered to persons making no more than 80 percent of the median income. The sales price for those units will be $221,600; the maximum income to be eligible is $70,912 for a family of one or two.
  • The other ten units will have two bedrooms and two full baths and will be offered to persons making no more than 120 percent of the median income. The sales price for those units will be $332,400; the maximum income to be eligible is $106,368 for a family of one or two.

Applicants may not have assets which, after deduction of the down payment and estimated closing costs, exceed 100 percent of the sales price in their respective categories. At least one of the applicants must be 55 years of age or older and must occupy the unit as their main residence.

Those who want to be considered must complete a lottery intake form, which is available on the Town’s website at http://www.huntingtonny.gov/theseasonsatelwood.

The completed form should be mailed to the Huntington Community Development Agency, 100 Main St., Room 309, Huntington, NY 11743. Mark the envelope: Attention: The Seasons at Elwood Lottery.

To be eligible, the form and the $25 entry fee, if mailed, must be postmarked by February 21, 2018, or, if hand delivered, received in the Community Development Agency office by 4 p.m. that day.
