'Chill' Sonoma: Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week
Sonoma, a 6-month old female, was left outside a home with food but no housing. She was taken into rescue and is up for adoption. Want her?

NORTHPORT, NY — Sonoma, a 6-month old female, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.
"When a kind lady was going to a home to purchase something off of Facebook Marketplace in the evening, this little girl was outside trying to stay warm in a carrier with no bedding," said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue.
The woman was told by the homeowner that Sonoma was just a little kitten when they took her in, but the household's dog did not like her, so they opened the door and made Sonoma leave, Wild said.

"They did provide food for her, but no housing, and she was freezing," Wild said. "The kind lady begged them to let her take her and at 11 p.m. at night, she rushed her to the Northport Cat Rescue Association, and into a warm and wonderful foster home she went."
Sonoma showed no resentment and was just a little doll, according to Wild.

"So cute, with her little freckle, she is friendly and silly, and our volunteers describe her as 'chill,'" Wild said. "She was fostered in a home with other cats and dogs and gets along with all! She will come to you when you call her name and sit on your lap and watch TV. She is absolutely adorable, just grateful to finally be safe and warm and loved."
Sonoma is currently at Petco Commack, curled up in her little bed, just waiting patiently for her forever home, "where she never has to worry about getting kicked out again," Wild said.

Sonoma will also be at Northport Cat Rescue Association's adoption event, scheduled for this Saturday, Feb. 1, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Elwood Public Library, at 1929 Jericho Turnpike, East Northport.
"Come on down and see lots of Sonoma’s friends, looking for their happily ever afters!" Wild said. "There will even be cat crafts for the kids, so come and enjoy a warm afternoon inside, and just maybe you will find your new best friend!"
Sonoma is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
