Construction Underway at Dick's Sporting Goods

Commack will soon have a commercial vacancy filled as the former home to Pathmark will become the new home to Dick's Sporting Goods.

A sign on the marquee leading into the shopping center reads the store is set to open in Fall 2012. A construction worker at the store, located at 6070 Jericho Turnpike, just east of the East Northport border, said work should be completed by mid August.

The worker said work on the building's interior began in late May.

Dick's would be competing with two other sports merchandise chain stores in the area – Sports Authority located at and  Modell's located at .

when the chain announced that Commack's location would be one of 32 to be closed after A&P, owner of numerous Pathmark stores, filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.
