Elwood Fourth Graders Give Back With Thanksgiving Gift Bags
Boyd Intermediate School students assembled handmade Thanksgiving gift bags for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
ELWOOD, NY — Fourth graders at James H. Boyd Intermediate School spent the days leading up to Thanksgiving giving back in a meaningful way. Students in Loren Levine’s class created dozens of festive gift bags for families staying at Ronald McDonald House, aiming to bring a little comfort to those spending the holiday far from home.
The Boyd students filled each bag with a handmade turkey craft, snacks, and even some of their Halloween candy — a gesture they hoped would bring joy to children and parents facing medical challenges.
Ronald McDonald House provides a “home-away-from-home” for families with a child receiving medical treatment at nearby hospitals. Levine said the project not only supported families in need but also taught her students the importance of gratitude, kindness, and community service.
