Friendly's in East Northport Closes Its Doors
The location is one of seven to shut down recently on Long Island.

Friendly’s – the ice-cream parlor that serves up frozen treats, burgers and more – has abruptly closed seven Long Island locations in recent days.
On Monday, J & B Restaurant Partners of New York, the Friendly’s franchisee in New York, announced it was closing the seven restaurants, including the East Northport location at 361 Larkfield Road. The announcement also included closings at locations in Farmingdale, Patchogue, Bay Shore, North Wantagh, North Babylon and West Babylon.
“These closings are regrettable; however the franchisee concluded that continuing operation was no longer viable,” J & B said in a statement. “Guests can still find 18 operating Friendly’s restaurants in Nassau and Suffolk counties.”

Friendly’s, based in Wilbraham, Mass., filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2011. At that time, a corporate executive said that J & B Restaurant Partners would be keeping Long Island Friendly’s locations open with plans to open new restaurants on the island, Newsday reported.
