NORTHPORT, NY — Frankie and Starry, who are best friends, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

They are both around 8 months old and came from rough beginnings, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.

"When Frankie came to us, he would tremble," Wild said. "Starry was sweet and grateful to be in someone’s arms but confused."

Frankie, a tuxedo and Starry, a tabby, went into foster care at the same time. They were both scared, and alone, according to Wild.

"The first time they met, Starry fell in love with Frankie," she said. "The pain in her eyes from being neglected, immediately disappeared. They play so lovely together. They gave each other strength and confidence to trust people, and from there, each day their personalities just blossomed."

Frankie, despite trembling to human contact at first, now loves to be pet, brushed and lay next to peoplem Wild said. Starry will chase after people meowing, asking for affection. They both get along with other cats, and even loved the dog they were being fostered with.

"When Starry loses sight of Frankie, she cries until you show her where he is, and then she will immediately stop," Wild said. "It’s quite amazing the bond they have formed. They have proven they are ready for adoption and their happily ever after, but they must be adopted together. Sometimes family is not who you are related to, but rather the ones that would do anything to see you happy and who love you no matter what. That is Frankie and Starry."

They are currently cuddled up together at the rescue's habitats at Petco Commack.

"Please share this dynamic duo and help us find them a home together," Wild said.

They are neutered and spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
