Markito, 'So Sweet': Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week
Markito, a 10-month-old male orange tabby, is a "joy" to be around. "We just know you will fall in love with him."

NORTHPORT, NY — Markito, a 10-month-old male orange tabby, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.
"This poor boy was homeless, near a house where the owner use to feed him," Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue, said.
The woman who owned the home died, and Markito was left on his own, Wild said.

"When one of our volunteers showed up to rescue him, he came running to her, desperate for food," she said. "In fact, he was so hungry, he walked right into the carrier she had with her."
Markito loves being an inside cat, according to Wild. During the day, he can be found napping on the couch or snuggled in a chair.

"He is still a little timid, but so sweet," Wild said. "He will come to you for pets and gets along with other cats. He should go to a home where he will have a playmate. He is very silly and loves playing with his wand teaser or picking up his toys and running around with them in his mouth. He has the most adorable chirp when he wants to be fed and seems to be telling you all about his story. Markito is hoping for a family who will give him the time he needs to trust and feel safe and loved. He is a joy to be around, and we just know you will fall in love with him."

Markito is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
The Northport Cat Rescue Association is set to host an adoption event at Petco Huntington, at 839 New York Ave. Huntington, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 5.
"It is a perfect way to spend a spring afternoon!" Wild said.
