Valedictorian Jackie Mancini and Salutatorian Sarah Stranieri of the Class of 2013.

Meet Elwood-John H. Glenn High School Valedictorian Jackie Mancini and Salutatorian Sarah Stranieri of the Class of 2013. Both students have attended the district for their entire academic careers and have worked diligently to achieve high levels of academic success.
Jackie has an exceptional and well-rounded resume that includes a variety of school and community activities. Her love of history and law has naturally led her to pursue a major in government and politics at St. John’s University in Queens.
Secretary of the National Honor Society and treasurer of the Italian Club, Jackie is no stranger to leadership. She is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars as well as an AP Scholar with Honor. She has also volunteered her services to several causes, including Relay for Life and Barnes and Noble Day. A well-rounded student, Jackie is a member of the varsity tennis team and a student instructor at American Kempo Karate, where she holds a firstdegree brown belt.
Equally impressive is salutatorian Sarah. An AP Scholar and member of the National Honor Society, Sarah also serves as editor-in-chief of the school paper. Like Jackie, Sarah is a member of the varsity tennis team and a student instructor at American Kempo Karate who holds a first-degree brown belt. In addition, Sarah runs for the school’s varsity track team. She also enjoys volunteering her services and has worked with children in Santa Barbara, Calif. as part of a peer tutoring program.
With a passion for science, Sarah will pursue a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
