NORTHPORT, NY — Residents within the boundaries of the Northport-East Northport School District on Tuesday voted to pass the 2025-26 school budget by a margin of 2,085 yes votes to 1,149 no votes.

The district's budget is $191,311,187, up 1.8 percent from last year's. The tax levy is $160,667,882, up 2.2 percent.

There are three open seats for the Northport-East Northport Board of Education. The candidates include Christine Ruggeri, Thomas Loughran, Joseph Pushee, Jim Maloney, and Raymond Burney.

Below are the vote results:

  • Christine Ruggeri: 2,332 votes
  • Jim Maloney: 2,084 votes
  • Raymond Burney: 1,823 votes
  • Thomas Loughran: 1,018 votes
  • Joseph Pushee: 882 votes

Ruggeri, Maloney and Burney were elected.

Proposition 2: Capital Expenditures, passed with 2,490 yes votes to 733 no votes.

Proposition 3: Energy Performance Contract, passed with 2,327 yes votes to 894 no votes.

Proposition 4: Northport Historical Society, passed with 1,799 yes votes to 1,410 no votes.
