Northport High School Class Of 2025 Graduates
"You are not just the future, you are the present, and your voice matters now," the board of education president told students.
NORTHPORT, NY — Northport High School proudly celebrated the class of 2025 during a memorable commencement ceremony held June 27, the Northport-East Northport School District announced.
Surrounded by family, friends and faculty, the graduating seniors were recognized for their achievements, growth and the dedication that brought them to this significant milestone.
As "Pomp and Circumstance" carried through the air, the excited graduates took to Tiger Stadium for the last time as students of the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District. The commencement exercises then began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Senior Class Vice President Caitlyn Murphy and the national anthem performed by the Northport High School choirs under the direction of Brittany Nichols.

Speaking on the challenges and lasting memories of high school, salutatorian Evan Liu reflected on the resilience of the Class of 2025 and the importance of carrying those lessons forward.
"Through it all, class of 2025, you pushed through, you persevered," he said. "Cherish those memories as you turn over a new chapter in this game of life."
The Northport High School choirs then continued their tradition of singing "Fields of Gold" before Northport-East Northport Board of Education President Carol Taylor offered heartfelt words of encouragement, reflecting on the students’ journeys and the impact they’re poised to make.
"You are not just the future, you are the present, and your voice matters now," she told the class of 2025, urging them to move forward with purpose, kindness and courage.
Valedictorian Dora Fields delivered a moving address that challenged the conventional notion of having a perfectly charted path after graduation. Drawing on insights from interviews with accomplished Northport alumni, the speech emphasized perseverance, flexibility and the importance of community support.
"When the future feels overwhelming, when you find yourself unsure of your next move, take a breath," she said. "Close your eyes and remember that the most important thing is not having it all figured out, it’s to keep growing. Because when you open your eyes again, like Peter Calandra playing 'Layla' in the 'Senior Well' in 1975, you’ll see that you’re not alone. You’ll see that there’s a strong community, just like the one here today, cheering for you, believing in you and excited for what comes next."
Principal Robert Dennis delivered a message centered on the meaning of time, its fleeting nature, its emotional depth and its potential for growth.
"Class of 2025, you are living proof that time moves fast," he said. "But you are also proof of all the beauty that can bloom in its passing," Dennis said. "I hope you’ve learned to treasure the little moments, the messy, inconvenient and imperfect ones, because those are often the ones that shine brightest in hindsight. From this point forward, you are the keeper of your own clock. Show up, pay attention, be present and make it count."
Members of the Board of Education then began the presentation of diplomas. After the final diplomas were presented, cheers and applause echoed across the field as Senior Class President Colin Cote led his peers in the tassel change and students emphatically threw their caps to the sky, exiting the field as alumni of Northport High School.
