Northport HS Student Awarded Rensselaer Medal

The student is set to receive a $40K per year scholarship to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

NORTHPORT, NY — Northport High School junior Matthew Alexander was awarded the Rensselaer Medal, the Northport-East Northport School District announced.

Alexander is set to receive a $40K per year scholarship to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, located in New York State.

If Alexander applies and is accepted to the institute, he will receive a scholarship to what the district called "one of the most prestigious schools in the state."

The scholarship is awarded each year to one student in any high school who shows significant
skills in mathematics and science. Teachers and administrators nominate the student who they believe has the academic skillset to meet the school’s rigorous requirements.
