Marlow was named Northport High School’s first wrestling New York state champion last year, and he is now Northport’s first wrestler to be crowned champion at the Eastern States Wrestling Classic. He also took home the Section XI League 3 title as well.

“His winning this tournament is an incredible accomplishment," Alberti said via news release. "This is considered one of the most difficult tournaments in the area in season. To win it in such a dominant fashion shows how Matt's year-round hard work and dedication are paying off,” said Coach Alberti.

Andrew Marlow said his son is grateful for the chance to compete against fellow top wrestlers.

"[Matt] was sharp over the entire two-day competition and handled everything anybody threw at him," Andrew Marlow said.

The Eastern States Wrestling Classic took place at Sullivan Community College and brought
together the best wrestlers from several states across the Northeast. Students must be invited to
attend based on their record.
