Northport Police Blotter: Porch Pirate Swipes iPhone

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Nov. 25 through Dec. 1.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A man was issued traffic tickets instead of being arrested in connection with driving without a valid license on Elwood Road on Nov. 26, police said.
- A fallen tree limb damaged a car's passenger side mirror on Scudder Avenue on Nov. 26. The tree was on private property.
- Police were called to Ocean Avenue for a report of a child walking down the street while carrying a machete on Nov. 27. Officers could not find a child wielding a machete and did not receive any further calls stating there was one.
- Tree limbs fell on Valley Avenue, blocking the road, on Nov. 28. Officers moved the limbs to the side.
- Someone made an anonymous call at The Northport Hotel saying they were assaulted around 5:30 a.m. Nov. 29. Officers spoke with the employee who received the
call, who said it was "most likely a prank call coming from inside the hotel." Officers searched the parking garage but found nothing out of place. - Police were called to Oak Street on Nov. 29 for a report of a grand larceny. A person said that an iPhone 16 was delivered by FedEx at 12:53 p.m., and at 1:04 p.m., it was taken by someone wearing grey sweat pants and a black jacket over a grey sweat shirt. The thief then ran eastbound on Oak Street, the caller told police.
