Northport Police Report: Helicopter Rescue; Loose Rooster

Incidents reported between June 15 and 24.

The following incidents were reported by the Northport Police Department between June 15 and 24.

  • A woman was medevaced to Stony Brook hospital by the Suffolk Police Aviation Unit on June 15 around 10:45 p.m. after she fell down a flight of stairs on Woodbine Avenue. The helicopter landed at Ocean Avenue School.
  • On June 17, a police officer on patrol observed several males wrestling in village park. He advised them that the park was closed and "did warn and admonish the subjects regarding their antics."
  • An employee of a Main Street business told police that an unknown person lit a "smoke bomb" in front of the store on June 19.
  • An Oakleigh Place resident complained of a loose rooster on their front porch on June 20. Upon arrival, police found the owner who retrieved the rooster. Three days later, the rooster showed up again in the person's backyard.
  • Police responded to Woodbine Avenue to a report of a suspicious incident on June 21. The complainant reported large rats and missing documents from her residence. There did not appear to be any large rats or missing documents.
  • Police responded to Fort Salonga Road on June 24 to investigate the report of a disturbance caused by an adult male in a green minivan possibly drinking alcohol and making lewd remarks to female customers. The officer checked the area and the subject and vehicle were gone upon arrival.  
  • While responding to a prior call for youths in the area on June 24, police were alerted that there was a vehicle stuck on a private beach along Eatons Neck Road. The truck was towed off the beach and the tire tracks later raked. The driver was issued a summons for unauthorized use of village property.
