Paralympic Gold Medalist Inspires Pulaski Road Elementary Students In East Northport Visit

Brannigan, his mom, and his coach discussed the importance of goal setting and teamwork. Students were rewarded for their reading program.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — Mikey Brannigan, a Paralympic gold medalist, visited students at Pulaski Road Elementary, the Northport-East Northport School District announced.

Brannigan, an alumnus of the school district, visited students to celebrate the culmination of their Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) program, where the students accomplished their goal of reading more than 10,000 minutes collectively.

As part of the visit, students listened to a story read by Brannigan’s mother, Edith Brannigan, and heard about the importance of goal setting and teamwork from his coach, Sonja Robinson, as well as from Brannigan himself.

The assembly ended with an opportunity for students to ask questions and learn more about the accomplished athlete.
