Police Log: Domestic Violence Arrest, Boat Collision, Motorcyclist Hospitalized

Here are recent incidents reported in the area, according to Northport Police.

Thursday, July 27

At 9:43 a.m., police received a report that a boat struck another boat in Northport Harbor, causing damage. The boat reportedly ran out of gas and drifted into the man's boat. The owner of the boat said he wasn't operating the boat on that day, but his son may have been on it.

At 6:07 p.m., police responded to a report of a large group of youths at the sewer plant on Beach Avenue. The youths told officers they were playing "Pokemon." They were asked to leave the area.

Friday, July 28

At 9:30 a.m., a 21-year-old Northport man was arrested for leaving the scene of an incident on Woodside Avenue.

At 11:30 a.m., officers on patrol in Northport Harbor towed a disabled vessel with two people on board to Seymores Boat Yard.

Saturday, July 29

At 7:23 p.m., a 36-year-old Northport man was arrested for a domestic violence incident on Main Street. Police say the man was in an argument with a woman. The argument became violent when the man grabbed the woman by the throat and forced her to the ground while obstructing her airway, police say. When he released her, he picked her up by the shoulders and legs and threw her to the ground, causing pain to her hip and a large contusion to her shin, police say. Police responded to the scene and Northport Rescue provided first aid for the woman. The man was subsequently arrested. He was charged with third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Sunday, July 30

At 1:32 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Fort Salonga Road. The motorcyclist was transported to Huntington Hospital by East Northport Rescue.

Monday, July 31

At 12:02 p.m., police responded to a Burr Avenue location for a man who took heroin. The man was transported to Huntington Hospital for evaluation.
