Police Log: Man Accused Of Following Girl, Car Parks On Phone

Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Tuesday, Feb. 6

At 7:41 p.m., police responded to the report of a woman suffering from an apparent alcohol overdose on Main Street. The woman told police she had too much to drink and would like to go to the hospital. Northport Rescue responded and took her to Huntington Hospital.

At 3:38 p.m., police responded to the report of a suspicious man walking to the library on Scudder Avenue and possibly following a girl. Police spoke to the man, who said he was just walking to the library and not following anyone. He was warned about his possible behavior. Police say he has mental health issues and his guardian was advised of the incident.

Friday, Feb. 9

At 2:19 p.m., a 41-year-old Maspeth man was arrested on Catherine Street for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was found to possess heroin.

Saturday, Feb. 10

At 4:42 p.m., police responded to an Ocean Avenue location for an intoxicated man with head injuries from a fall. Northport Rescue responded and transported him to Huntington Hospital.

Sunday, Feb. 11

At 5:01 p.m., police responded to LaMantia Gallery on Main Street for a car that parked on top of a woman’s cellphone that was dropped in the roadway. Officers were able to contact the owner of the vehicle and have her move her vehicle.
