NORTHPORT, NY — Fin, a 7-month-old male, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.

Fin is now at Doggie Dons in East Northport, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. He cannot be placed in the habitats at Petco Commack or Petco Huntington because he gets "very anxious in an enclosed area," Wild explained. He is doing much better in the open cage with a window to look out of.

"Although, sadly, we had to separate him from his sister, Sandi, because of his anxiety being in a tight space," Wild said. "He is doing well, asking anyone that visits for some pets and love. Don’t get me wrong; he hates being in a cage; I mean, so do all our fur babies. Fin has a lot of energy and loves to play, so it is especially hard on him."

Each time one of the rescue's volunteers go to visit him, he wants to just jump out and into their arms, Wild said.

"When Fin was in his foster home, he was an adorable purring machine," Wild said. "He is silly, sweet, and playful. After he plays hard, he relaxes and snuggles for love. Fin would do great in a home with another furry friend or in a home with an attentive family that will give him lots of playtime and love. Please help us get him out of the cage and into a loving home in time for the Holidays!"

This Saturday, Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., the Northport Cat Rescue Association is set to be at Sweet Arts candy store at 105 Main St., Northport.

"Is there anything better than kittens and candy on small business Saturday?!" Wild said. "Come on down and meet Fin and some of his friends and help make their dreams come true this holiday season with a home of their own. While there, fill up some goody bags full of candy to keep you going while shopping for the holidays! Hoping for some holiday miracles for our fur babies."

Fin is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative. If you are interested in meeting Fin, you may head to the Northport Cat Rescue website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet him or any of the rescue's other wonderful kittens and cats.
