Service to Honor Vets Left Behind
Ceremony Saturday at Long Island National Cemetery.

Veterans will step up to honor other veterans long gone, in a ceremony Saturday at Long Island National Cemetery.
The cremated remains of 34 veterans, including two Civil War veterans, and 9 spouses will be given a full burial with the help of the American Legion Greenlawn Post 1244 and the U.S. Columbarium/Fresh Pond Crematory.
The Missing in America project will start at 9 a.m. at the chapel of the U.S. Columbarium Co. at Fresh Pond Crematory at 61-40 Mount Olivet Crescent in Middle Village.
Riders from the American Legion Riders, Chapter 1244 Motorcade and the Patriot Guard Riders will proceed to Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale for full military honors at 11 a.m.
The Missing in America Project has led efforts to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed remains of American veterans. All veterans, veteran service organizations and patriotic members of the public are invited to join the memorial service.
