NORTHPORT, NY — Patty, a "sweet" 1-year-old female cat, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association’s Kitten of the Week. She was born in January 2024.

"Patty was saved from a hoarder’s home that she shared with more than 100 other cats," said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.

All the cats were rescued and split up into many different rescues, according to Wild.

"Patty is very shy and quiet," Wild said. "Our guess is because she was just lost in a sea of other cats. She loves to eat, surely because she no longer has to fight for her food. Patty will look at you with her eyes that tell a story. She looks sad, but with gentle voices and kindness, she will slow blink at you and accept petting and love. Just when you think that Patty doesn't know how to play, because she never had any toys, our volunteers come into their shifts only to find Patty’s cute stuffed bumblebee in her bowl of water. With out fail, she does it again and again. We know there is a silly, playful kitty in there somewhere. She just needs someone to help her bring it out!"

Life has not been easy for Patty, Wild said. Now that Patty is in rescue, she has spent a lot of time waiting for someone to give her a chance.

"She needs someone special, with patience and kindness to show her how wonderful life could be to have a home and not have to fight for attention, food, or life," Wild said. "Patty is a muted tortie and is absolutely beautiful."

She is currently at Doggie Don’s in East Northport, patiently waiting for her furever home. Patty is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
