NORTHPORT, NY — Kiki and Coco, 1-year-old bonded brothers, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

Kiki and Coco, born in January 2024, "have been through a lot at such a young age," said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.

The two were purchased by a gentleman on Craigslist, according to Wild.

"The gentleman tried his best to care for them, however due to his medical issues, he was taken to a hospital and was not able to return to them," Wild said. "A lovely neighbor went to the home daily to feed them for weeks, but they were alone, scared and confused."

The neighbor reached out to the Northport Cat Rescue Association, and the organization took the two kittens into rescue.

"When they first arrived, they were very withdrawn," Wild said. "They cuddled together, hiding under a couch for the first few weeks. I suppose they were wondering what was going to happen to them next. It must be scary to be bounced around from home to home, never really feeling safe. Sadly, the only consistency they have had in their lives was each other. Finally in a comforting environment, with tons of love and affection from their foster mom, their personalities emerged!"

They are the "most snuggly and affectionate kittens ever," according to Wild.

"They will hug your arm as you pet them, holding on to it when you stop, begging for more," she said. "They will both fall into you, belly up, for pets. Total purring machines, happy and silly, Coco’s tail will wag while eating. Kiki is always looking around with wonder, as if he is seeing everything for the first time. They are biscuit making, purring machines and are ready to go to their forever home together."

Kiki and Coco would do best to be the only cats in a home, Wild said.

"But we promise the two of them are all you will ever need! Please help us find these boys their happily ever after and a family that will be there for them for always."

They are neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
