'Sweetheart' Mark: Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week
Marky Mark, a 1-year-old male, was left behind by a family that moved away. "He is the most adorable, affectionate, snuggle boy."

NORTHPORT, NY — Mark, a 1-year-old male, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.
He is lovingly referred to as "Marky Mark" at the shelter, according to volunteer Lora Wild. He was born in February 2024.
"When Mark’s family moved away, they left this sweetheart behind," Wild said. "He went to every house on the block, meowing at the neighbor’s doors, hoping for some food and a warm place to feel safe. Finally, a very kind lady rescued him and called NCRA. We can’t imagine why he was left behind, because he is the most adorable, affectionate, snuggle boy. He is a purring machine and everyone who meets him falls in love with Marky Mark."

When Mark was out on his own, he was being bullied by some other neighborhood cats, Wild said. As a result, he can be very cautious of other kittens.
"He would do best as a single cat in a home, but we are confident he will bring you so much love and joy, that he will be all anyone will ever need!" Wild said. "Marky Mark needs a family who will never leave him behind again."

Mark is currently at Petco Commack, and he will meow up a storm for some attention, Wild said.
Marky Mark is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
