Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Parts Of Long Island

LONG ISLAND, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of Long Island. It's in effect from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday for Nassau County and northwestern Suffolk County.

Freezing rain could produce up to a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation. No snow is expected.

Difficult travel conditions are possible and hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute, the weather service says. Power outages are possible.

Thursday Night- Rain. Widespread dense fog, mainly before 10pm. Low around 44. South wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday- Rain before 4pm, then a chance of freezing rain. Temperature falling to around 31 by 5pm. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Southwest wind 10 to 14 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected.

Friday Night- A chance of freezing rain and sleet, mainly before 7pm. Cloudy, with a low around 21. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. North wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday- Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 29. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. Northwest wind 13 to 17 mph.

Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 14. North wind 5 to 11 mph.

Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 32.

Sunday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.

Monday- Partly sunny, with a high near 41.
