Abbi From 'Broad City' Is Volunteering at a Brooklyn Food Coop Next Season
What could go wrong?

“Broad City” babe Abbi Jacobson, second most famous lady comedian living in Brooklyn Heights, will be pulling a volunteer shift at the Greene Hill Food Co-op at 18 Putnam Ave. from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
The shift is being filmed for an episode of “Broad City” Season 3, which apparently sees Abbi take some time off from her crap job as a janitor at Soulstice.
“We decided its better to laugh at ourselves,” a Greene Hill Food Co-op member who identified herself as DK Holland told Patch via email. ”Plus we can see what they are filming is so far fetched that we don’t think its believable.”

Earlier in the morning, the ”Broad City” crew also filmed a scene called ”Lincoln drops off Ilana” right around the corner, on Grand Avenue between Fulton Street and Lefferts Place. Traffic maneuvers were particularly gnarly for that one, according to a copy of the filming permit blogged by local politician Laurie Cumbo:
“Request Permission to place camera in the curbside lane plus one. Camera will be on the street side filming into the Driver’s side window of the picture car. Request permission to free drive with the flow of traffic and have the camera positioned inside the car. Car will pull away from designated parking spot and then reset. Request permission to hold both sides of Grand Ave for picture and to ensure a safety lane for traffic. Permission to park the picture car facing the opposite flow of traffic for one scene.”

But this deal isn’t all bad for the neighborhood. Greene Hill Food Co-op member Holland said that as part of the co-op’s agreement with Comedy Central, the TV network will donate $500 to the Fort Greene Senior Council ”as compensation for any inconvenience they may have caused our neighbors.”
