Musicians Can Now Rent Practice Space at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music for $12/Hour
14 practice and rehearsal rooms are available, including the building's Grand Hall.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Artists can now rent discounted practice and rehearsal space at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music through Spaceworks, a non-profit that connects artists with cheap places to practice their craft.
The Conservatory, located at 58 7th Ave., is packed with students and artists in the evenings, explained Madeleine Davidson, the organization's managing director, but many of its spaces go unused during the day.

The Spaceworks partnership will help the Conservatory to make the most of underused resources, Davidson said.
"Our mission is to build community and transform lives through music," she said. "We're really excited to fill [the building] to the brim."

Rooms can be rented directly through the Spaceworks website, with prices starting at $12 per hour. The Conservatory's Grand Hall is also available, and Davidson said she hopes it can be used by larger dance groups. Artists can also rent rooms for multiple back-to-back sessions, Davidson said. And if you'd like to know what room works best for you, the Spaceworks site displays which instruments and equipment comes with each.
Recording equipment isn't currently in place inside the practice rooms, Davidson said, but she was excited to say that the Conservatory did recently receive a grant from Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and the New York City Council for three new pianos, scheduled to arrive in 2018.
The Conservatory is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
