'Harlem Shake' Restaurant Opens This Week In Park Slope
The new burger joint will open its doors on Fifth Avenue on Thursday.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A new burger joint bringing the flavors of Harlem to Park Slope will officially open its doors this week.
"Harlem Shake" — which has been open at its flagship on West 124th Street since 2013 — will debut its second location on Park Slope's Fifth Avenue on Thursday. The restaurant, first announced earlier this summer, is setting up in a 1,300-square-foot space on the corner of Sterling Place.
“Our aim is to bring our celebrated concept to Brooklyn, with a bit of nostalgia and a nod to pop culture,” founder Jelena Pasic said in a release. “Not to mention, bring residents and visitors high-quality, affordable offerings in a welcoming environment.”

The new eatery will feature a menu inspired by Harlem's "rich culture and energy," including griddled burgers, hand-spun shakes, New York hot dogs and other classics, according to the restaurant.
Customers can expect an atmosphere that pays homage to previous businesses from the corner storefront, which was built as a dry goods store in the 1800s and converted to a diner itself in the 1940s.

It will include a "Wall of Fame" celebrating notable patrons, a "Miss Harlem Shake" photo showing the eatery's namesake dance, a vintage jukebox and a "Wall of Fab" celebration of vintage hairstyles, according to the release.
The Park Slope spot will also feature some other New York City favorites, like frozé flavors from Nostrand Avenue's Island Pops, Harlem hot chicken bites from Brooklyn hot sauce brand Spank 'N Hot and shakes with cakes from Ma's Desserts, a division of Harlem's own Make My Cake.
After the grand opening, Harlem Shake will be open seven days a week.
