PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A mysterious new business is planning to set up shop in the space that used to house the Grand Central Oyster Bar, which was forced to close its doors this past summer after a reportedly lukewarm reception in the neighborhood.
Records show that Peter Best (of the Best Restaurant Group) is seeking approval from Community Board 6 to serve alcohol at a new venture called Cooks & Captains, which would operate out of the 254-258 5th Ave. space.

It was not immediately clear what type of restaurant or bar Cooks & Captains would be. Best couldn't immediately be reached for comment on Thursday.
Community Board 6's licensing committee will host a Sep. 26 hearing on Best's application. For those interested in attending, the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the NYPD's 78th Precinct, located at 65 6th Ave.

Other liquor license applications are also on the agenda for the night, one of which was filed by a company called Peker Handwerker LLC, which is opening a new establishment at 136 Atlantic Ave. in Cobble Hill. The property (pictured below) is currently vacant.
