Police Blotter: Two Crooks Violently Mug Woman for iPhone on 13th Street

Violent iPhone Mugging

Two crooks violently mugged a woman for her iPhone on 13th Street on Jan. 28. 

The 26-year-old victim told police that she was walking westbound on 13th Street at Seventh Avenue at around 8 p.m. when two black men in their 20s started following her.  One crook, described as standing 6-foot-2, weighing approximately 200 lbs. and wearing blue jeans and a black snow hat, ran up from behind, pushed her to the ground and grabbed her iPhone out of her hands. The other crook, described as standing 5-foot-10 and wearing a gray snow hat, pushed her back to the ground and then they both ran, jumped into a grey sedan with NY plates, and drove away.

Debit Card Stolen on Party Bus 

A crook stole a man’s debit card while on a party bus New Year’s Day and charged almost $500 from Jan. 1 and 2.

The 19-year-old victim told police that he was on a party bus on Jan. 1 and when he went to the bank the next day to take out money, he realized his debit card was missing. While at the bank, he found that someone had charged $446.51. 

Unauthorized Withdrawal

An identity theft withdrew over $1,000 from a woman’s bank account from Jan. 18 and Jan. 19.

The 36-year-old victim, who lives on 12th Street, told police that she did not lose her debit card and the last transaction she made was a day before the unauthorized withdrawals occurred. The next day, a crook gained access to her pin number and made several withdrawals from an Astoria Federal Savings Bank ATM nearby totaling $1,160.
