This Weekend at 'Art Slope': Dance, Poetry, Theater and Choir Covers of Kurt Cobain
Learn how to mold molten glass and explore a 360-degree film imagining the Americas 500 years ago —and that's just on Sunday.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — The vast artistic diversity of Art Slope — Park Slope's nine-day multi-disciplinary artistic extravaganza — is already underway, which means numerous events will be offered between now and Sep. 25. Did we mention it's free?
There's a map and a detailed listing of events online, but here are just a few scheduled for this weekend to get you thinking:
Saturday

- At 2 p.m., Unsettled Scores will offer its choirful rendition of classics by Nirvana, the Beatles, and other pop and rock icons (in the Cul de Sac next to the Old Stone House, located at 344 5th Ave.)
- At 3 p.m., Poetry in Action! will offer live takes on classic poems you've perhaps heard, but likely never experienced in an interactive setting (also at the Cul de Sac by the Old Stone House)
- At 7:30 p.m., the Xoregos Performing Company will offer a 20-minute production of the play "Passing Fancies" by Donna Spector, summarized as "1 man, 1 woman, 1 singles website, 1 date. 2 wildly different expectations." (at the Berkely Carroll School, located at 152 Sterling Pl.)
Sunday
- From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., UrbanGlass will offer introductory glass blowing workshops showing audience members how to create a pendant or a bead (in front of the Old Stone House)
- From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can explore Bill Hull's 360-degree video installation called "Tabla Rasa," inspired by the first contact between American Indians and Europeans (at Art Slope headquarters, located at 249 5th Ave.)
- From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., students aged 9-13 from Spoke the Hub, a dance and performance studio, will present their annual ENCORE! PERFORMANCE, showcasing original choreography and theater (at the Spoke the Hub Re:Creation Center, located at 748 Union St.)
