1 Hurt In 2 Separate Crashes In Brookhaven Town On Wednesday: Police
In one, a bicyclist was sideswiped by an SUV on Woodside Avenue in Holtsville, Suffolk police say.
BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — At least one person — a bicyclist — was hurt in one of two separate crashes in Brookhaven Town on Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.
In the first crash, a woman driving a 2024 Mazda Suburban was making a right-hand turn from North Ocean Avenue onto Woodside Avenue in Holtsville at around 5:30 p.m., and the SUV sideswiped a man on a bicycle traveling east on Woodside Avenue, according to police.
The bicyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

In the second crash, a vehicle with two people crashed into a telephone pole and overturned on Terry Street in Patchogue at around 9:30 p.m., according to police.
A woman had been driving a 2024 Jeep southbound out of a parking lot and making a wide left turn, to head east onto Terry Street, lost control of the vehicle and it struck a light pole on the south side of the road, police said.

The two people were not seriously hurt and declined medical treatment at the scene, according to police.
