2 Hurt After Blank Fired; 13 Nabbed At 'Fight Club' Event On Long Island: Police
A 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, cops say.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Thirteen people were rounded up on Sunday after a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old were hurt at an unauthorized "fight club" event in Shirley, Suffolk police said.
Officers were called to the Brookhaven Aquatic Center Complex on Frances Landau Place after a report of possible shots fired at around 6 p.m., police said, adding that they found a scuffle had broken out among several people who were attending an unauthorized fight club event.
One of the people had brandished and discharged a blank firing gun during the scuffle, in which a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were hurt, police said.

The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Devine Brown, 25, of Mastic Beach was charged with second-degree assault and menacing, prohibitive use of a weapon, and unlawful assembly. He is being held overnight at the 6th Precinct in Selden and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.

The following people were charged with unlawful assembly, a misdemeanor,
and were issued either Field Appearance or Desk Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date:
- An 18-year-old man from Riverhead.
- An 18-year-old man from Moriches.
- Lorenzo Whyte, 18, of Shirley.
- Three men from Mastic, including an 18-year-old, 20-year-old, and 23-year-old.
- An 18-year-old man from Coram.
- A 19-year-old man from Shirley.
- A 20-year-old man from Mastic Beach.
- A 20-year-old man from Holbrook.
- A 19-year-old man from Middle Island.
Additionally, a 16-year-old boy, whose name is being withheld due to his age, was issued a Desk
Appearance Ticket, and is scheduled to appear in Family Court on a later date.
