5 Rounded Up In Cannabis, Vape Compliance Checks On South Shore: Police
Around 1,000 vape cartridges and 400 vape cartridges were seized from shops in Patchogue, Suffolk police say.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Suffolk police say they rounded up five people, including two arrested for selling cannabis and one for having marijuana on Friday during compliance checks.
In response to numerous community complaints, 7th Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an investigation into the sale of cannabis during which five businesses were checked for compliance with the law, and two businesses were found to be selling cannabis without a license.
The following people were arrested and charged with unlawful sale of cannabis and unauthorized sale of cannabis products without a license:

- A 50-year-old from Valley Stream who is an employee of Shirley Smoke and Cigars on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley.
- A 21-year-old from Holtsville who is an employee of Main Street Smoke Beer and Convenience on Main Street in Center Moriches.
In Patchogue, two businesses were found to be selling flavored vapes, and the following people were arrested and charged with second-degree unlawfully dealing with a child:
- A 27-year-old from Central Islip who is an employee of Wildboyz Smoke Shop on Medford Avenue.
- A 26-year-old from Selden who is an employee of J Mart Smoke Shop on Route 112.
Additionally, another employee of Wildboyz Smoke Shop, a 28-year-old from Port Jefferson Station, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Approximately 1,000 vape cartridges from Wildboyz Smoke Shop and 400 vape cartridges from J Mart Smoke Shop were seized.
The compliance check was also in response to community complaints.
The Suffolk County Health Department, as well as the Town of Brookhaven's code enforcement department and fire marshal's office also took part in the investigation.
All five defendants were issued field appearance tickets and are scheduled to be arraigned on a later date.
