6 Taken To Area Hospitals In 2 Separate Crashes On South Shore: Police

Two drivers involved in a crash with an overturn, as well as four other people in another crash were hurt, Suffolk police say.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — At least six people were taken to area hospitals in two separate crashes on the South Shore on Saturday, Suffolk police said.

In the first crash at around 1:25 p.m., a 60-year-old Shirley man driving a 1998 Dodge pickup truck made a left-hand turn from Camp Upton Road onto William Floyd Parkway when a 24-year-old Mastic man driving a 2020 Chevrolet drove through the intersection and the vehicles collided, police said, adding that the Dodge flipped over.

Both drivers were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Around five hours later at 6:30 p.m., a 2006 Cadillac was parked on the shoulder of the Sunrise Highway Service Road, at Haig Avenue, in East Patchogue, when it was rear ended by a 2015 Honda, police said.

Both drivers and two passengers from the Cadillac were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
