Arson Detectives Probing Farm And Auto Body Fires In Brookhaven Town: Police

The fires broke out at Glover Farms in Yaphank on Friday, and Denny's Auto Body in Selden on Saturday, Suffolk police say.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Suffolk Arson Squad detectives are investigating two fires that broke out in Brookhaven Town last weekend, police said.

The first fire broke out in a barn at Glover Farms on Horseblock Road in Yaphank at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, according to police.

No one was in the barn at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported, police said, adding that multiple fire departments responded to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, police said.

In the second incident on Saturday, a fire broke out at Denny’s Auto Body on Middle Country Road in Selden just after 8 a.m. and no one was hurt, according to police.

The cause of the auto body shop fire is under investigation but believed to be non-criminal, police said.

Neither fire is believed to be related to the other, a police spokeswoman said.
