Long Island Bicyclist Critically Hurt In Crash With SUV Dies: Suffolk Police
He was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue in critical condition, police say.
NORTH BELLPORT, NY — The 57-year-old man struck by an SUV while riding a bicycle and critically hurt in North Bellport on Nov. 26 has died, Suffolk police said Monday.
Joseph Vujasin, who was from Brookhaven, was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue in critical condition after he was struck by a 2007 GMC Envoy on Post Avenue, according to police.
The driver, a 44-year-old Bellport woman, apparently suffered a medical event and struck him as he crossed the road on the bicycle, police said, adding that she was also taken to the hospital, but for evaluation, police said.

Two passengers in her SUV were not injured, according to police.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said.

Fifth Squad detectives in Patchogue are investigating.
