GoFundMe Will Continue Helping Gabby Petito’s Family: Organizer
Remaining funds will be donated. Family grateful for "how uplifting this support has been during this challenging time." - Gary Rider

BLUE POINT, NY — The GoFundMe page dedicated to raising money for Gabby Petito’s family will continue to cover general expenses incurred by the search and effort to bring her home, and the remaining funds will be donated to a charity, according to the page organizer, Gary Rider.
The roughly $82,000 in funds raised will cover general expenses such as transportation, legal fees, and care of the family “through this difficult period,” Rider wrote in an update on Monday.
“The worst fears of any parent have been realized with the recovery of Gabby,” he wrote. “We are devastated and heartbroken.”

Petito was confirmed Tuesday to be the person who was found dead at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. The search for her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, who is a person of interest, continued with nothing found on Thursday.
Last week, Petito’s family warned of fake GoFundMe pages, and notified followers on Facebook that they should only donate to the page organized by Rider, meaww.com reported. They requested anyone with tips to call their family attorney, Rick Stafford at 631-589-7999.
