Habitat For Humanity Recipient Gets New Home In East Patchogue

PATCHOGUE, NY — One family of five had cause to celebrate last week after a “Home Dedication” from the nonprofit organization, Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk.

Habitat for Humanity, a Christian charity that helps build affordable homes or improve dilapidated houses worldwide, welcomed Allyson Bowden and her four children to their completed East Patchogue on July 13.

“We welcome her to the community of homeowners in Bellport,” Habitat for Humanity CEO and Director Lee Silberman said to Patch.

The creation of Bowden’s home was a partnership between Habitat for Humanity, the Island Outreach Foundation and the Town of Brookhaven, Silberman said on Thursday.

Silberman, Suffolk County Legislator Dominick Thorne, state Sen. Alexis Weik, Suffolk County Legislator Stephanie Bontempi and Brookhaven’s Supervisor Ed Romaine personally welcomed Bowden and her children to her new home last week.

“It’s always a great day when a family moves into a new home, and I congratulate Allyson and her family and wish them many years of happiness,” said Romaine in a statement. “Thanks to Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk for making the dream of home ownership a reality for this family.”
