Dean Murray Wins New York’s 3rd Senate District: Newsday
He garnered 69,972 votes or 65.32 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The votes in New York's 3rd Senatorial District were still being tallied Wednesday morning, though Newsday has declared Dean Murray the winner of the race.
Murray, a Republican, faced off against political newcomer Farzeen Bham, a Democrat.

As of 9:27 a.m.:
- Dean Murray (Republican, Conservative): 69,972 votes or 65.32 percent of the vote
- Farzeen Bham (Democrat): 37,009 votes or 34.55 percent of the vote
Murray, an East Patchogue resident, previously represented the state's 3rd Assembly District. His terms of office went from 2010 to 2012 and then again from 2015 to 2018.

Bham, a Coram resident, pledges a change in Albany for residents.
The district contains a large portion of the Town Of Brookhaven, including the greater Patchogue area, a portion of the Sachem School District. It stretches north from Lake Grove to Calverton, as well as east to Eastport and Westhampton Dunes. It includes a portion of Fire Island from Ocean Beach to Cupsogue County Park in Westhampton.
