Here are the top four stories today in Patchogue:
- Patchogue Annual Holiday Sip and Shop runs through Thursday, Dec. 15. The Patchogue Chamber of Commerce hosts the event. Click on the link to learn which retailers downtown are participating in the event and get all the deals available for shopping locally. (Patchogue Village)
- The "It Takes a Village Vigil" will be hosted by the Don't Toss The Bouquet Floral Preservation on Dec. 10 from 5-10 p.m. at Patchogue Shorefront Park. The life of angel babies will be honored with over 35,000 votive candles. (Village of Patchogue)
- Police are looking for a man who stole from Famous Footwear in Islandia. Cameras caught the suspect leaving the store with three pairs of shoes that hadn’t been paid for. - Drivers in Suffolk County need to be aware of the enforcement of illegal parking in handicapped spots. The Sheriff’s Office made the announcement. The close look at violations is due to the holiday season, which attracts crowds to stores and malls. (Smithtown Matters)

- North Patchogue resident, Darlene Morace, is helping to raise funds to benefit her neighbors whose house was destroyed by a fire that injured their older son and killed their pets. The tragedy happened on Halloween and forced the residents to find shelter elsewhere. A GoFundMe has been set up and has already raised over $2,850. (Patchogue Patch)
- "A Farmingville man who terrorized a 14-year-old girl by dragging her out of a bathroom in a Middle Island home break-in pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary on Thursday, prosecutors said." (Patch)
- 'Winter Wonderland' will be hosted by the Patchogue-Medford Public Library on Dec. 9 from 5 to 10 p.m. This free-admission event features bouncy houses, crafts, photo booths and carnival-like activities. (Patchogue Patch)
