Patchogue Beer Project Celebrates Grand Opening

While the Patchogue Beer Project became an instant hit for locals in January, the brewery celebrated its official grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and party this weekend.

Community members and local business owners came together to commemorate the Railroad Avenue brewery's opening.

The project, which has been in the making for more than two years, was started by husband and wife, Ryan and Mckensie DiSpirito, and Mike Philbrick, owner of Port Jeff Brewing Company.

"We want to bring as many craft beer lovers to Patchogue Village as possible," Mckensie DiSpirito said.

With breweries being a staple of Patchouge and the surrounding area, DiSpirito said they're interested in "collaborating with them rather than competing."

"We are planning to brew a collaboration beer," she said. "What does set us apart is our design and the way we serve our beers. Most of our beers are served directly from serving tanks as opposed to kegging off the beer and serving it that way. We have two tanks in the bar which each house 5 barrels of beer. Then on top of the mezzanine we have 6 more tanks - three are 10 barrel and three are five barrel."

With Philbrick overseeing brewing operations and equipment, the Patchogue Beer Project's head brewer, DiSpirito said, is "Richie T," who selects "which beers are brewed and what will be coming up next on the board."

The Tasting Room is open Monday to Thursday 12-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 12-10 p.m., Sunday 12-8 p.m.
