Here are the top five stories in Patchogue today:

  1. Rep. Lee Zeldin declined Gov. Kathy Hochul's offer for a debate. The debate would be on Oct. 25, transmitted by Spectrum News NY1 at Pace University. Zeldin said he would have accepted the invitation if the other debates were added and if all New York residents had access to the network hosting the event. (Patch)
  2. Drop in at the Patchogue Outdoor Market on Sept. 25, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., to purchase fresh produces, baked goods, food, and crafts. The market is at the LIRR train station and is pet friendly. (Sayville/Patchogue Moms)
  3. Suffolk County announced that its systems had suffered a cyberattack. The system is ongoing, but some servers reported an unauthorized person/system had accessed their personal information. A team of cybersecurity hired by the County is investigating the situation and assuring residents' information is secured. (Smithtown Matters)
  4. A bartender from Medford is facing first-degree manslaughter for fatally beating a customer at the Tailgaters Bar in Holbrook. David Cruz, who covered the security camera with his t-shirt before attacking Jake Scott, now may face 25 years in prison. (Daily Voice)
  5. Opa! Blue Point Greek Festival is set for this weekend. St. John's Greek Orthodox Church features dancing, food, music, vendors and more through Sunday, Sept. 25, at 77 Montauk Hwy. To access details of the festival, click here. (Patch)
