Here are the top four stories in Patchogue today:
- Patchogue Drift 82 is waiting on the Village's approval to keep using an outdoor tent in its parking lot. The tent started to be pitched as one of the COVID-19 safety requirements to keep the business going. The establishment owner is now looking to extend the permission to keep hosting special events. (Greater Long Island)
- The Patchogue Menorah Lighting will be held at Capital One Plaza on Main Street. The event kicks off on Dec. 18 at 5:30 p.m. The Temple Beth-El and the Patchogue Parks Department sponsor the Lightning. (Patchogue Village)
- Bellport's High School Athletes raised $2,500 to help the Special Olympics New York. The group participated in the Saturday Freezin' for a Reason polar plunge at Cedar Beach. The event gathered hundreds of brave community members for a good cause. All proceeds will go towards equipment for athletes with disabilities. (Patch)
- Saturday morning was a special day for some Suffolk police officers. The first responders helped a Shirley resident deliver her baby on her living room floor. Police said they received a 911 call reporting the labor on Arpage Drive. Officer Connor Diemer and his work partners arrived to help Rebecca Reyes safely deliver her child.
