- NYPD Officer, Michael Valva, has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the murder of his son Thomas Valva. Valva's lawyer, John LoTurco, said he would appeal the sentence because they claim the death was unintentional. Read the full coverage of this case here. (Patch)
- The front of the Patchogue-Medford Library on Patchogue Main Street will turn into a Winter Wonderland today. There will be crafts and activities for kids of all ages! You don't need to register. (Patch Events)
- Looking for a pet to be part of your family this holiday? The Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter is hosting an adoption event called "Home for the Holidays” on Saturday at 300 Horseblock Rd. in Brookhaven from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Patch)
- A man had his throat slashed during a road rage incident on Ocean Avenue. Both cars were traveling on the LIE when they took exit 63. One of the drivers left his vehicle and tried to open the other's driver's door. One of the passengers attempted to stop the suspect from opening the door and had his throat slashed during the struggle. (Patch)
