Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle On Long Island: Police

The 30-year-old from Medford was pronounced dead at the scene; the driver was not hurt, Suffolk police say.

EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in East Patchogue on Friday night, Suffolk police said.

A 2012 Nissan, driven by a 22-year-old Patchogue resident, was traveling southbound on Route 112, near Sycamore Street, when it struck a pedestrian at around 10:45 p.m., according to police.

The pedestrian, Deshawn Parrish, 30, of Medford, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, adding that the driver was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said.

The 5th Squad in Patchogue is investigating, according to police.
