Shooting Hospitalizes 2 Teens On Long Island: Police
A teen shot and hospitalized another teen during a group altercation on Long Island, Suffolk County police say.
PATCHOGUE, NY — A teenager was arrested after shooting another teen on Long Island Thursday afternoon, according to Suffolk County police.
Police said that during a physical altercation involving five male juveniles on Edwards Street, east of Rider Avenue, a 14-year-old shot a 17-year-old multiple times around 4:30 p.m. Police said they believe the 14-year-old accidentally also shot his own hand during the altercation.
A 9-millimeter handgun was recovered from the scene, police said.

The 17-year-old was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the 14-year-old was transported to a hospital where he was treated and released, and no one else was injured, police said.
The 14-year-old was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said. He is slated to appear as a juvenile offender at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, police said.
