He was pulled from underwater after struggling for about 10 seconds, Suffolk police say.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A small boy was pulled from a pool at a Long Island beach club on Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
The child, who was with a parent, jumped into a pool at the Patchogue Beach Club on Maiden Lane at about 4 p.m. and was struggling underwater for about 10 seconds before someone came to the rescue, according to police.
The child was alert but had trouble breathing, and a responding officer gave him oxygen before emergency medical technicians from Patchogue Ambulance Company arrived to take him to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.
