- A special concert to help Joseph Casony is set at Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. "JoeJo" lost his home and cat in a tragic fire. Buy tickets if you want to support his cause and enjoy a night of jams with local bands buy tickets. (Patchogue Patch)
- No appointment is necessary for those interested in getting free health screenings and other services with the Catholic Health Mobile Outreach Bus. Registered nurses will be at the parking lot of the Patchogue Library on Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All are welcome. (Patchogue CofC)
- Kids in grades 1-6 will cheer the Chinese Lunar Year at the Patchogue-Medford Public Library on Jan. 17 at 5 p.m.! A Lion Dance Parade Mask and other fun activities to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. (Patchogue Chamber of Commerce)
- Nearby News: A Lake Grove man has been arrested for approaching an 11-year-old-child while she was walking home from Selden Middle school. According to the police, the 28-year-old man made sexual comments while following her. Luckily, she managed to escape, but the suspect crashed into a pole when he tried to flee from the scene. (News 12 Hudson Valley)
- Brookhaven Town will spread animal adoption awareness throughout the year. The town discussed a new plan in a board meeting to help pets to find their forever homes. Currently, 81 cats and 70 dogs live in the shelter, waiting for adoption. (Patch)

- Did you know that people used to ski all winter on Long Island? The fun started in 1965 at Bald Hill in Farmingville. Back in the day, that hill was 344 feet tall.
