Suffolk County Officials Extend Street Takeover Task Force

LONG ISLAND, NY — Suffolk officials had extended the county's Street Takeover Taskforce, and increased the police department's Highway Patrol Bureau's staffing to enhance roadway safety.

The county's Street Takeover Task Force, which began as a pilot in November, has been extended due to its success, officials said.

Officers will also be participating in the state's Enforcement Campaign for Distracted Driving through April 14.
